Troubleshooting Guides

Troubleshooting Guides – Resolve Common Issues on Your Own

At IBSS Nepal Pvt. Ltd., we strive to provide seamless Fiber-Optic Internet connectivity. However, if you encounter any issues, our troubleshooting guides will help you quickly resolve common problems without waiting for support.

1. No Internet Connection
Check the Basics First:
Power Cycle Your Devices– Turn off your ONT (Optical Network Terminal) and router, wait for 30 seconds, then turn them back on.
Check Cable Connections – Ensure all fiber cables, Ethernet cables, and power cords are securely plugged in.
Look for Indicator Lights–
- ONT A solid PON (green) light means the connection is active.
- Router: Check if the WAN/Internet LED is lit.

Still No Connection?
- Try a Direct Connection– Connect your computer directly to the ONT using an Ethernet cable. If it works, the issue may be with your router.

Check for Outages – Visit our [Network Status](#) page or call our support team to confirm if there’s a service disruption in your area.

2. Slow Internet Speeds
Possible Causes & Fixes:
Wi-Fi Interference– Move closer to your router or reduce interference from other devices (microwaves, cordless phones).
Too Many Connected Devices – Disconnect unused devices or upgrade to a higher-speed plan.
Background Downloads/Updates – Check if large files are downloading in the background.
Router Placement – Keep your router in a central location, away from walls and obstructions.

Test Your Speed:
- Use speedtest.net or our official IBSS Speed Test Tool to check your connection speed.
- If speeds are consistently slow, contact our support team.

3. Wi-Fi Not Working (But Wired Connection Works)
Quick Fixes:
Restart Your Router – Unplug it for 0 seconds and plug it back in.
Check Wi-Fi Settings
- Ensure Wi-Fi is enabled on your router.
- Verify you’re connecting to the correct SSID (Wi-Fi name)
Reset Wi-Fi Password– If devices can’t connect, log in to your router admin panel and reset the password.

Advanced Troubleshooting:
Change Wi-Fi Channel– Use your router settings to switch to a less congested channel (e.g., 1, 6, or 11 for 2.4GHz).
Update Router Firmware – Check for firmware updates in the admin panel.

4. Frequent Disconnections
Possible Solutions
Check for Loose Cables– Ensure all connections are tight.
Overheating Issues– Place your router and ONT in a cool, ventilated area.
Signal Interference – Avoid placing the router near thick walls or electronic devices.

If the Problem Persists:
Test with a Different Router (if available).
- Contact BSS Nepal Support for further diagnostics.

5. Can’t Access Certain Websites or Services
Try These Steps:
Clear Browser Cache – Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete(Chrome) to clear cached data.
Change DNS Settings – Use Google DNS (8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4) or Cloudflare (1.1.1.1)
Disable VPN/Proxy – Some VPNs block access to local websites.
